North Wellington FC Welcomes Vikas Chauhan as Strength & Conditioning Coach

North Wellington FC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Vikas Chauhan as the club's new Strength & Conditioning Coach. Vikas brings a wealth of experience across multiple sports, including football, rugby, basketball, and cricket. His expertise in athlete development, injury prevention, and high-performance training will be a major asset as the club continues to push for excellence.

Vikas joins us from Wellington Phoenix, where he served as an Assistant Academy Sport Scientist and Strength & Conditioning Coach. In this role, he played a key part in designing and delivering fitness programs, monitoring player performance through GPS tracking, implementing injury prevention strategies, and overseeing post-game recovery for academy players. His deep knowledge of sports science and physical conditioning will significantly benefit our squads.

Elite-Level Experience

Beyond his recent work with Wellington Phoenix, Vikas has an impressive track record with elite-level athletes. He has played a pivotal role in injury prevention and recovery for All Blacks legends Aaron Smith and Ben Smith before the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Currently, he continues to work under the mentorship of renowned All Blacks Strength & Conditioning Coach, Dr. Nic Gill.

His expertise also extends to basketball, having worked with the Highlanders, Southland Sharks, Tall Blacks, and Breakers. He has supported NBL stars such as Tai Wynyard, Tom Vodanovich, Dom Kelman-Poto, Alonzo Burton, Hyrum Harris, and Alex Pledger, ensuring they stay at peak performance while minimizing injury risks.

A Strong Educational Foundation

Vikas holds a Master’s in Physical Education from Punjab University and a Graduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise from the Southern Institute of Technology. He is currently pursuing a Level 2 certification with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association, further reinforcing his credentials in elite athlete preparation.

His approach to training goes beyond the physical—he is also a Holistic Lifestyle Coach, integrating principles of Dr. Quiet, Dr. Movement, Dr. Nutrition, and Dr. Hydration to ensure athletes perform at their best both on and off the field.

Club Leadership Excited for the Future

North Wellington FC Club President Fraser Kirby expressed his excitement about the appointment:

"We are delighted to welcome Vikas to North Wellington FC. His expertise will not only enhance our club’s knowledge base but will also provide immense value to our athletes. His contributions will be felt across all levels, and we look forward to the positive impact he will bring."

Vikas’ ability to mentor athletes, optimize team performance, and implement cutting-edge training techniques will be invaluable as North Wellington FC continues to raise its standards. His diverse experience across multiple sports underscores his deep understanding of athletic development—something that will undoubtedly benefit our players.

We are excited to welcome Vikas Chauhan to the North Wellington FC family and look forward to the lasting impact he will make on our players and coaching staff.
