Your Mission as Head Coach

As Head Coach, you’ll lead the First Team in a way that embodies NWFC’s culture, championing our values in every match and interaction. You’ll nurture a competitive, united team that celebrates our development pathways, ensuring home-grown players shine at the highest level. Your leadership will set the tone for camaraderie, excellence, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach the NWFC Men's First Team in every match, nurturing a supportive and ambitious atmosphere.
  • Design and deliver a player recruitment strategy aligned with club pathways, collaborating closely with the Director of Football to integrate emerging talent from the Men's Reserves.
  • Assess strengths, weaknesses, and risks in the squad, and implement effective solutions for ongoing improvement.
  • Develop and oversee a structured training, feedback, and learning plan with three practice sessions each week.
  • Provide orientation for Reserves, allowing them exposure to First Team standards and culture.
  • Submit player and resource proposals in line with agreed budgets.
  • Plan off-season activities to boost engagement, retention, and squad development.

Leadership & Management

  • Select and prepare the First Team in line with club requirements and regulatory standards from Capital Football, NZ Football, and other partners.
  • Be a visible, positive ambassador for NWFC, always wearing club-approved gear during events, trainings, and matches.
  • Provide all players with constructive feedback on training, selection, and performance, supporting their growth and transparency in the process.
  • Promote a culture of respect among staff and players towards opponents, officials, and the wider football community, aiming for exemplary conduct at all times.

Collaboration & Relationships

As men's Head Coach, you’ll work closely with key club figures to ensure smooth operations and a strong player pipeline:

  • Director of Football: Integrate emerging players, receive training support, and regular performance reviews together.
  • Club President: Seek budget approvals, propose Amateur Playing Agreements, request support, and monthly progress and risk reports.
  • Club Manager: Support governance and compliance, resolve complaints, manage game cancellations, and coordinate facility needs for training and matches.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow club coaches, sharing ideas, learning from one another, and respectfully challenging conventions, with the goal of achieving excellence together.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a people-focused leader, passionate about player and team growth. The right candidate will have:

  • Eligible to work in New Zealand
  • An OFC/NZF B License or be actively working towards it.
  • Outstanding communication skills, open, effective, and consistent.
  • A commitment to developing talent and fostering team unity.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as a team, seeking input when needed.
  • Strong strategic planning and risk management abilities.
  • A valid driving license.

Junior & Youth’s Development Officer

Role Purpose: North Wellington Football Club is seeking a passionate and organised Junior & Youth’s Development Officer to lead and grow our junior and youth football programmes. This hands-on role blends football development with planning and administration, aiming to provide high-quality experiences for players, parents, and coaches. Grounded in our core values of Inclusion, Respect & Integrity, Community, and Ambition, this role is vital in building positive footballing environments for our junior and youth players.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Junior Programme Management: Lead pre-season operations, manage seasonal activities, and coordinate communication with parents and coaches.
  • Junior Football Development: Enhance training curriculums, provide resources, and support game day coaching.
  • Youth Football Pathways: Connect promising players with senior coaching staff and manage pre-TDP academy programmes.

 Coach Development: Mentor coaches and implement a clear coaching pathway.

  • Programme Planning & Delivery: Oversee a 12-month coaching framework, deliver school holiday programmes, and support player recruitment.
  • Female Football Development: Strengthen pathways from Girls Only grades to senior women’s football and support female players and coaches.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  •  Holds a New Zealand Football “C” Licence (or working towards completion).
  •  Experience in youth and/or female football environments.
  •  Excellent planning and administrative skills.
  •  Strong communication skills and a people-first approach.
  •  Experience in coaching and/or coach mentoring.
  •  Committed to fostering an inclusive, ambitious, and community-led football
  • environment.
  •  Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
