Welcome to First Kicks!

At First Kicks, we’re all about fun and igniting a passion for the game! Perfect for kids aged 4 to 6 years old, our programme introduces young players to the joy of football while encouraging active participation.

What to Expect

Our sessions are packed with engaging football activities designed to:

• Boost general movement skills.
• Develop basic football techniques.
• Improve coordination.
• Include fun and interactive games.

The goal? To help kids feel confident with the ball and enjoy as much playtime as possible!

Who Can Join?

First Kicks is open to kids aged 4, 5, and 6 for the 2025 season.

When and Where?

Sessions run every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Alex Moore Park, Johnsonville.

What Do You Need?

• Club Gear: Each player receives a North Wellington FC playing shirt for the season (to be returned at the end). Club shorts and socks can be purchased online through  Inter Football​​​​​​​
• Essential Items:
  • Shin pads
  • Water bottle
  • Suitable footwear

Registration Details 

The fees for 2025 are $80.00.

Registrations will remain open for the entirety of the First Kicks Winter Season. 

Coaches and Teams 

At First Kicks, every player is placed into a team, complete with its own unique name and an enthusiastic parent coach. We believe that sports are most enjoyable when played with friends, so we do our best to group children with their buddies whenever possible, but don't worry if your child is new to the group; many kids come in without knowing anyone and quickly make friends while having a blast playing fun games together..

Getting Involved 

If you're keen to rediscover the joy of football through your children's eyes, why not consider becoming a coach? We provide support materials and courses to help you get started. Coaching takes less time than you might imagine, and the satisfaction of witnessing your team's joy and success is truly rewarding. If you're contemplating coaching but would like to chat with someone first, please contact us. ​​​​​​​

Cancellations 

Football is a winter sport and so this means we strive to play in most weather conditions.

However in the case of more adverse weather the club will monitor the conditions on an ongoing basis and will make a final call on whether to cancel or go ahead with the session by 7:30am on the Saturday morning.

In the case of cancellation this will be communicated via email and posted to the North Wellington FC social media pages. Please monitor these for any potential cancellations.

We will only communicate a cancellation, if you do not hear from us please assume we are still playing.
