Senior Club - North Wellington AFC
North Wellington AFC was founded in 1972 - incorporating Onslow (1934) & Johnson Villa (1951). In 1992 the Club absorbed Newlands-Paparangi United (1968). In 2011 we are fielding 23 teams (10 Senior Men, 5 Masters Men, 4 Under-21 Men & 4 Senior Women) in the Wellington leagues as organised by the local governing body Capital Football.

(North Wellington AFC occupies the clubrooms during the football season from April-September. Our clubroom co-owner, Johnsonville Softball Club occupies the clubrooms during the softball season from October-March.)

Notes:
* Maureen Jacobson is the 2nd most capped women's international player for New Zealand with 60 appearances. She scored 20 goals (2nd highest all-time scorer). (Wendi Henderson has made a record 63 appearances for New Zealand after her 3 appearances in the 3-match series against Australia which concluded on 3rd March 2008) . On 31 March 2011 Maureen was nominated for induction into the inaugural Wellington Football Hall of Fame event.
* Peter Jones was a member of the under-15 team which competed in the Australian inter-state championships. He was a junior player for North Wellington AFC and later played for our Men's Premier team in the 1984-85, 1990 and 1992-94 seasons.
* Philip Barton played 5 games at the Oceania World Youth Cup (under-20) qualification tournament played in Australia. He played for our Men's Premier team in 1982-84 & 1986 before leaving in 1987 to join Miramar Rangers (Wellington). He later returned to North Wellington AFC and re-joined our Men's Premier team in the 1991 and 2000-09 seasons.
* Mark & Tony Jamieson left North Wellington AFC to play for Wellington United in 2001. Tony later played for Wairarapa United, Olympic (Wellington) and Stop Out (Wellington) and Mark later played for Miramar Rangers (Wellington).
* Aroon Clansey left North Wellington AFC to play for Manly (Sydney, Australia) in 2005. Since then she has played at international under-20 level for New Zealand. She made her debut appearance for the New Zealand Women's international team "Football Ferns" in their 4-0 loss to China in Guangzhou, China on 16 November 2006. In May 2011 she was selected in the squad for internationals against Australia and China (before selection she had 5 senior caps to date).
Also: Kieran Purcell (son of North Wellington AFC club member (to 2009) Robert Purcell) played for our junior affiliated club North Wellington Junior Football Club from 1995-2003. In January/February 2007 Kieran (a freshmen at the University of Evansville, Indiana, United States) represented New Zealand at men's under-20 level. New Zealand won the Oceania confederation qualification group held in Auckland to gain direct entry to the men's under-20 World Cup Finals held in June/July 2007 in Canada. Kieran did not play in the New Zealand games against Portugal (lost 2-0) and Gambia (lost 1-0), but played a full game at left-back in their final group C match against Mexico (lost 1-2, goalscorer - Jack Pelter). This was the first time that the New Zealand men's under-20 team had qualified for the World Cup Finals. (Note - Kieran has not played for North Wellington AFC, but as stated above for our junior affiliated club.)

Roz Wallace was a playing member at the Club during the period 1999-2005 (and coached the Women's Premier team in the 2003 & 2004 seasons).
Also: Ken Dugdale (coach of the Men's Premier team in 1985-86) became the coach of the New Zealand men's team "the All Whites" for 1998-2002. He is now coaching at club level in Norway (2007-2010).
